Oh, Baby!

Unfortunately, I'm still in prison.  Hopefully, paws crossed, that will change after mom talks to the nice vet lady tomorrow.  I am walking 98% of the time.  That's the official percentage.  Fancy, right?!  Ok, it's not really official and more of a guesstimate, but regardless, it's a lot of walking compared to last week!

While I was resting up, Mom took one of my buddies, Baby, out for a game of fetch.  Baby is awesome.  She's a fun, spunky, silly and affectionate 16 month old Pittie. Mom and I love her. Baby loves us, too, and she also loves Ball. That's a whole lotta love! She carries Ball with her 75% of the time while at the park. Again, that's the official percentage! Ok, fine, it's also a guesstimate. She only drops Ball when she wants you to throw it for her. Then she speedily runs, grabs it back up, and actually brings it back! I guess this is called "Fetch" and baby is GREAT at it.  Maybe I should try to pick up a pointer or two.

Ain't Baby a looker?!
While mom was in the park she met another silly gal named Cowgirl.  Cowgirl is a 9 or 10 year old Bulldog of some variety.  She is a sunbathing cutie and also a human leaner...you know, the ones that cozy up and lean in for scritches.  Mom loves her a leaner.
Well, think good thoughts for the phone check in with my doctor!! I'm 100% ready to be FREE and that's NO guesstimate!

Time to cuddle up with mom and go to zzzzzzzzzzz...

Lu

No New News & Meet Dorrie

Unfortunately, I don't have any good news to report on my leg.  It still feels icky and I don't want to put any weight on it.  Mom keeps giving me the woozy pills; they take the sting out.  Keep thinking good thoughts for me and my leg, if you don't mind!  I didn't include any pics of me today, because it's not very exciting to see me stoned in my crate.

Instead of pics of me, I figured I'd introduce you to my friend.  Meet Dorrie.  She's my really good pal! (She tweets...check out her feed).  Every Friday mom and I take a walk with Dorrie.  Of course, since I'm on house arrest in the canine prison I couldn't join today.  [insert pouty face] Look how pretty it was out today...(sigh).

 At least Dorrie and my mom got to enjoy a nice outing.

  Dorrie's so funny...she gets so tired on our walks that sometimes she has to take a little break.  Everyone on the street thinks it's hilarious.

Other Dorrie Fun Facts
  • She's super fun to play chase and wrastle with;
  • She is totally into looking for gophers and sniffing things;
  • She is super friendly with the humans;
  • Sometimes when we are on leash, we bark and lunge at dogs together.  Mom gets a bit mad at us when we do this.  Rightfully so, I guess.
  • Sometimes we just sniff other dogs nicely.  Mom gets really excited and gives us lots of pets and love when we do this.
  • Dorrie outweighs me by about 7 pounds (I'm about 48lbs and she's about 55lb), but I'm definitely the alpha.  Heck yeah.
  • She's one of the happiest friends I have and usually has a big smile on her face.
  • MOM AND I SUPER DUPER LOVE HER! (Isn't she sooooo cute!  But not cuter than ME, right?!?  Ok, Ok, it can be a tie!)

Wow, I'm Famous!

Ok, I'm not really famous, but look -- The Daily Puglet wrote a post about ME!  How nice is that of them?  And lots of people said I'm pretty, even when I'm hurt!  There are also pictures of me that I'm going to steal (well, not steal really...they said I could use them!) and show you:

This was right after the fall...see I'm holding my leg all funny?  The best part about The Daily Puglet post is that it asked folks to send me good Juju.  Thank you to all the Daily Puglet followers for all the love and good thoughts! It really does mean a lot to me and my mom!

So, as I was typing this in my canine prison, my mom was on the phone with the nice vet lady (Dr. Anna DeVincenzi at Irving Street Pet Hospital).  Here's the scoop, since I still can't put weight on my foot/leg:

  • The other special vet guy agrees that there are no fractures or bone issues;
  • I have to stay in my crate (does anyone realize the indignity?!  Good thing I'm still on the woozy pills);
  • Mom should keep giving me the woozy pills (The nice vet tech lady who called earlier in the day said mom could up the dose a bit...YAY!);
  • And we will have to wait and see how I am by the end of the weekend.  If no better than I will have to go to the extra extra special vet person.  Oof.  I hope I am better by then!
Until further notice, if you need me, you can find me with my hippo in canine prison...

Off with a bang...

Well, I was going to start this blog by telling you all about ME, but my life's story is going to have to wait, because I had a crazy day today.  The first part of the day was super fun.  My mom (she's human, for the record) and I got taken on an adventure with Dutch, the Dalmatian, and Puglet, the Pug, and their human, up to Buena Vista mountain.  I have been friends with Dutch and his human mom since I was a puppy.  We didn't get to hang out for a while, but our humans reconnected and I'm so very happy about that, especially because I have always had a crush on Dutch (and his new little brother, Puglet, seems like he could be a cool friend). As we all walked, the humans talked their talk, and the boys and I trotted and sprinted and frolicked and sniffed and ate some grass.  Here's a pic my mom took with her crappy camera phone.  And it's just of our butts eating grass, but I figured you might like to see it anyway.

After we were "Moo Dogs" as my mom always says, we ran some more in the woods. Puglet was super fun to chase through the trees.  Have I mentioned that I LOVE RUNNING IN THE WOODS? Probably not, since this blog is new, but it's true.  I was having so much fun bounding down a mountain side, when I came upon this stone fence.  Without hesitation, I leapt straight into the air and for a few seconds I was flying and it was amazing...I felt like Evel Knievel.  It was all good until I landed on the the cement pathway with a thud.  Next thing I knew my leg hurt sooooo badly.  Owwie.  I didn't cry at all, though.  I had to be tough in front of the boys and my human friend.  I'd wait until we were alone to tell my mom how much it ached.

We all went over to my vet, Irving Street Pet Hospital, and the nice ladies took me into the back.  I admit I was a little scared and tried to run back to my mom, but I also know these folks are always really nice to me in the back room and give me lots of treats.  They touched my leg, which they realized hurt, so they gave me a shot of something and I felt all woozy and less owwie.  They played around with my leg some more and then they put me in a machine that takes pictures of your insides.  Apparently, mine looked ok, but I heard them use the word, "inconclusive".

My mom told me that they are sending the pictures of my insides to another nice doctor and for the time being I will have to be in my crate with more woozy pills.  I'm not happy about it.  I can't put my foot down and it is still super owwie.  I hope I feel better in the morning and that the other nice doctor says everything is ok.  Wow, what a day.  At least my humans have been carrying me up and down the stairs and I got some yummy human food for dinner.  I'm trying not to cry too much, but I hate sleeping alone.  And I'm not exactly sure how to poop on one leg (perhaps I should have kept that to myself?).

I will update you tomorrow.

Oh, one more thing, Dutch and Puglet, were apparently having a photo shoot while I was getting drugged and prodded.  They do look handsome, though, don't ya think?  I can't wait to heal so we can run together again soon!

By the way, check out Puglet's awesome blog, The Daily Puglet!! Dutchy is on it, too!

Goodnight, and think good thoughts for my leg.

xo,
Lu

P.S. Many many thanks to Amanda, Dutch, and Puglet for bringing me to the doctor and for staying and keeping my mom company! xoxoxoxo
